ATSG CONFIRMED FIX - JUNE 2026
2018 Chevy Express 2500 8L90
Complaint: Slip and chatter in drive and reverse on take-off.
Cause: 1-2-7-8-R C1 clutch bonded piston torn.
Correction: Replace the damaged piston.

Additional Notes: This complaint started slowly for the owner. The surface area the piston rides in still looked fine, not sure why the bonded piston started to come apart. Also, prior to transmission being pulled the line pressure was checked and appeared normal and would not have caused it to chatter on take-off. Once the clutch was disassembled you could see that the piston was damaged. Once reinstalled in vehicle and filled it showed no signs of any slip or chatter.
